Endovascular Treatment for Spontaneous Vertebral Arteriovenous Fistula in Neurofibromatosis Type 1: A Case Report
نویسنده
چکیده
common autosomal-dominant genetic disorders with an incidence of approximately 1:3,500. Vascular abnormalities associated with NF-1 include stenotic or occlusive diseases, aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and, rarely, arteriovenous fistula (AVF). Association of arteriovenous fistula with NF-1 is rare with a few cases of vertebral AVF having been reported (1-3). Endovascular occlusion of the vertebral fistula offers a minimally-invasive treatment option with an acceptable number of possible complication and results. We report a case of spontaneous vertebral AVF with dilated epidural venous plexuses causing cervical cord compression resulting in quadriparesis. The patient was successfully treated by embolization of the fistula with coils and a balloon. CASE REPORT

most common autosomal dominant genetic disorders and this inherited disease is associated with various neoplasms, skeletal and vascular abnormalities (1). The vascular lesions affecting the head and neck of patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) has been reported as occlusive or stenotic form, moyamoya vessel or aneurysm. However, spontaneous vertebral arteriovenous fistula (AVF) associa...
متن کاملVertebral arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) in neurofibromatosis type 1: a report of two cases.
Spontaneous vertebral arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) associated with neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF-1) is a rare occurrence in the previous reports. We presented two female NF-1 patients with a diagnosis of cervical vertebral AVF treated with endovascular approach. The fistula in the first case was successfully obliterated by feeder occlusion; whereas, for the second one, new fistulae were formed f...

Wereport a rare case of ruptured intercostal arteriovenous fistula in a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1. The patient presented with severe back pain. Angiography revealed ruptured intercostal arteriovenous fistulas. Successful coil embolization to occlude the fistulas and the aneurysm resulted in successful recovery of the patient.

Background and Importance: Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula is a recently described matter as a rare vascular malformation occurring in children. It is usually located in the subpial space in the intracranial cavity with a high-flow shunt. Case Presentation: Authors report on a 2-year-old child with intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula and progressive enlargement of he...
متن کاملExtracranial vertebral arteriovenous fistula presenting as an osteolytic lesion of the axis. Case report.
Arteriovenous fistulas of the extracranial vertebral artery are rare. The authors report a case of a spontaneous arteriovenous fistula of the extracranial vertebral artery presenting as an osteolytic lesion at the body of the axis. The patient presented with headache and posterior neck pain. The fistula was obliterated by an endovascular trapping.
